OSTEOPATHIC MANUAL THERAPY

Osteopathic Manual Therapy  (OMT)  is a system of medicine which believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself. It is drugless medicine, thus minimizing the toxic load on the body.  OMT is based on:

  • The body is an integrated unit of mind, body, and spirit.

  • The body possesses self-regulatory mechanisms & has the inherent capacity to defend, repair & heal.

  • Structure dictates the body’s function and vice-versa.

  • The artery reigns supreme.

Treatment is wholistic and individualized

based on your body’s specific physiology and functional requirements.

REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY

Registered Massage Therapy spans a wide variety of therapeutic approaches,  working to improve an individual’s health and well-being.  At Holistic Osteopathy & Wellness, our Registered Massage Therapists work in tandem with our practitioners to help you balance and release tissue restrictions and improve circulation and drainage of affected areas.

Massage  involves the mobilization of joints and soft tissues of the body, including muscles, skin, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE & ACUPUNCTURE

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) 中医 is a root cause based philosophy built on a wholistic foundation of more than 2,500 years of Chinese medicine practice that includes various forms of  treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage (tui na) and nutritional advice.

One of the basic tenets of TCM is that "the body's vital energy (chi or qi)" circulates through channels, called meridians, that have branches connected to bodily organs and functions." Treatment  allows for proper flow of chi, hence giving the individual the chance to heal and function at their optimal.  TCM's view of the human body is concerned partially with anatomical structures, but mainly upon the body's functions (such as digestion, breathing, temperature maintenance, etc.):

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Prenatal massage uses many of the techniques of traditional and Swedish massage therapy and adapts them to the strains and stress of the body for a woman that is pregnant. During a traditional massage, the client may spend most of the time face down on a massage table, whereas with prenatal massage the client is on their side with special cushioning and draping to make the client comfortable.

Prenatal massage is safe and often ordered by a doctor as supplemental treatment for the aches and pains of pregnancy.

"My wife and I, with our aging bones and muscles, have been using the services of this clinic for about two years and it has been very helpful.  The Osteopaths we have dealt with have been very helpful keeping us mobile and limber.  For the last year, we have been helped by the excellent Pen Smith who is an extremely effective and caring therapist.  During this pandemic, and I hope someday soon I no longer have to add these words, they have been extremely careful and they have provided a safe and clean environment."
